How to Get Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian in WoW Classic
Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, is one of the rarest and most prestigious legendary weapons in World of Warcraft Classic. Once wielded by Medivh, the last Guardian of Tirisfal, this weapon can only be obtained by Mages, Warlocks, Priests, and Druids — each receiving their own unique class variant. This guide walks you through every step required to craft this legendary staff, from raiding Naxxramas to purging its corruption in Stratholme.
Classes That Can Wield Atiesh
Warlock – Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
Priest – Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
Each class receives unique stats and a class-specific aura that enhances party performance.
Step 1: Collect Splinters of Atiesh in Naxxramas
Defeat bosses inside Naxxramas.
Each boss can drop a Splinter of Atiesh (not guaranteed).
You will need 40 Splinters to craft the Frame of Atiesh.
Expect multiple full clears of Naxxramas due to RNG. Once you have 40, right-click them to combine into the Frame of Atiesh, which starts the questline.
Step 2: Seek Anachronos in Caverns of Time
Travel to Tanaris and meet Anachronos at the Caverns of Time.
To interact with him, you must reach at least Neutral reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu.
Farm Ahn’Qiraj Ruins and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj bosses for Qiraji Lord’s Insignia to raise rep.
Step 3: Defeat Kel’Thuzad and C’Thun
Collect the Head of Atiesh from Kel’Thuzad in Naxxramas.
Collect the Base of Atiesh from C’Thun in the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.
Both are 100% guaranteed drops.
Bring strong raid groups — these are the final bosses of their raids.
Step 4: Cleanse Atiesh in Stratholme
Anachronos reforms the staff into Atiesh, the Befouled Greatstaff.
Enter Stratholme (Festival Lane) with the Key to the City.
Use Atiesh on the consecrated ground to summon Atiesh, Hand of Sargeras.
Boss mechanics:
Unholy Aura – unavoidable DoT. Shadow Resistance helps.
Breath of Sargeras – heavy curse that must be dispelled.
Disarm mechanic – Warriors can disarm him, dropping Andonisus, Reaper of Souls, a temporary sword usable for huge DPS.
Step 5: Return to Anachronos
After defeating the corrupted Atiesh, return to Anachronos to receive the purified Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian. Congratulations — you now wield one of the most legendary staves in WoW’s history.
