After nearly two decades of player requests, Player Housing is finally coming to World of Warcraft. Launching with Patch 11.2.7 as part of The War Within pre-patch, this long-awaited feature gives players the freedom to build, decorate, and customize their own personal space in Azeroth.
Unlike the Garrisons of Warlords of Draenor, this system offers true player-driven creativity, with cosmetics, furniture, and layout control that stretch across expansions. Whether you’re a collector, completionist, or just someone who wants to flex your transmog, now’s the time to prepare.
Here’s how to get started with WoW Housing — and how to be ready when the doors open.

Player Housing is a new permanent system where players can design and furnish a home — from the ground up.
Decorate with furniture from Vanilla to The War Within
Resize, rotate, and reposition items using a new 3D placement tool
Express yourself through transmogs, mounts, pets, and decor themes
Invite friends or guildmates to visit your space
Complete achievements to expand your housing layout
Housing is built as a long-term system — not a limited event or phased zone — and it’s fully tied to your account-wide progress.

To gain early access:
Own The War Within expansion — Housing content is tied to it
Log in during Patch 11.2.7 (Dec 2 launch)
Complete the introduction questline in Dornogal
Access your first Housing instance — base level, upgradeable later
Start earning and using cosmetic sets for decoration
This system is built to expand throughout The War Within and likely beyond.
WoW’s Housing system includes:
Rooms and layouts — unlock new wings, build indoor/outdoor setups
Furniture — beds, banners, tables, rugs, lighting, displays
Trophies and achievements — place items earned through gameplay
NPC visitors and themes — tie your house to factions or expansion vibes
Each object can be scaled, rotated, and moved freely — using tools Blizzard adapted from internal 3D modeling tech.
If you want to hit the ground running, here’s what you should start doing before Patch 11.2.7 launches:
Focus on collecting:
Holiday event decorations (Winter Veil, Noblegarden, etc.)
Toys with visual effects
Zone achievements that may unlock housing trophies
Old questlines may unlock unique decor. Complete:
Campaigns from Dragonflight and Shadowlands
Reputation chains with factions like Maruuk, Iskaara, and Valdrakken
Some furniture and housing skins will be gated behind renown or reputation levels — especially legacy factions.
Mounts, pets, and toys from rare mobs may now serve dual purposes — in combat AND in your home.
Blizzard has hinted that toybox items and collections could “link” into housing displays — clear out duplicates and mark your favorites.
This isn’t just cosmetic fluff — Housing could become WoW’s new side-progression system, similar to Final Fantasy XIV or Elder Scrolls Online:
A reason to revisit old zones
A permanent creative outlet
Cross-character functionality
Possible guild or community features in future patches
Blizzard is aiming for freedom and expressiveness, and early previews suggest it’s shaping up to be one of the most impactful features in years.
With Player Housing arriving in Patch 11.2.7, there’s never been a better time to prep. Start collecting decorations, knock out reputations, and finish key storylines — because when Housing goes live, the race to build Azeroth’s best interior begins.
And remember: this is just the beginning. WoW’s Housing system will grow with The War Within, so anything you prep now sets you up for a major payoff later.
