Bound Shadehound Secret Mount

Bound Shadehound is one of the secret mounts added in Shadowlands Patch 9.0.5, obtained after completing a complex hidden puzzle within the Maw. Originally one of the few mounts usable in the Maw before Patch 9.1, it remains a prestigious collector's piece due to its obscure unlock process and low ownership rate.

• Ve'nari Reputation Gate — You must reach Appreciated reputation with Ve'nari before you can even begin — the Stygia Dowser alone costs 1,500 Stygia

• Heavy Stygia Farm — The full process requires roughly 3,500 Stygia plus farming 200 Stygia Dust and 200 Stygia Sliver from Stygia Nexus nodes scattered across the Beastwarrens

• Three-Page Rune Codex — Three codex pages must be collected from hidden locations across the Maw — Death's Howl cave, Perdition Hold, and the Tremaculum — then combined into the Complete Rune Codex

• Rare Mob Requirement — Soulforger Rhovus must be killed for the Soulforger's Tools — but he doesn't spawn during the Kyrian covenant assault, adding a timing constraint

• Final Binding Puzzle — The last step summons a Feral Shadehound that panics and runs — you must click the runes in the exact order shown on the Crumbling Stele to bind it

• Works Everywhere Now — In The War Within, the mount functions as a standard ground mount in all zones — not just the Maw

1. Reach Appreciated reputation with Ve'nari and purchase the Stygia Dowser and Animated Levitating Chain

2. Complete the Rune Puzzle at the Altar of Domination — failing it spawns a Mawsworn Runemaster and applies a 2-hour lockout debuff

3. Buy the Partial Rune Codex for 2,000 Stygia and collect all three codex pages from the Beastwarrens, Perdition Hold, and the Tremaculum

4. Farm 200 Stygia Dust and 200 Stygia Sliver, kill Soulforger Rhovus for the tools, and craft the Armored Husk at the Soulsteel Anvil

5. Combine the Armored Husk and Willing Wolf Soul at the Binding Altar in Cocyrus to create the Feral Shadehound

6. Summon the Feral Shadehound and click the runes in the correct order from the Crumbling Stele to bind it and complete the quest
