Azta'rec is the Midnight Season 2 Delve Nemesis — the final challenge inside Venomfall Deeps, a dedicated Nemesis Delve on the Coiled Isle introduced with Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula'tek. It's the Season 2 successor to Season 1's Nullaeus encounter, built as the prestige solo skill test of the patch rather than a gear check.
Solo-Only Mount — The Apophic Soul Crusher comes exclusively from Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec, which requires killing Azta'rec with no other players in your party; a group kill does not count, so this service is delivered piloted rather than as a group carry
Tier Requirement To Confirm — The exact tier for the solo achievement is still shown as unfinalized on the PTR, so we verify the live requirement before starting rather than quoting a number that may change
Tiered Rewards — Defeating Azta'rec grants the Apophic Patagia back appearance, a harder difficulty grants the Poisonous title, and the solo kill grants the mount, so the option you choose determines which rewards are secured
Fabled Deadline — The Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec title requires a solo kill during the first week of Season 2 and becomes a permanent Feat of Strength afterward, so it can never be earned once that window closes
Not a Gear Check Alone — The fight is built around clean interrupts, poison removal, arena control, and a multi-step sequence through the Echo phases; based on prior Nemesis tuning, roughly item level 290 or higher is strongly recommended given the heavy sustained Nature damage
Preparation Matters — The lair unlocks after clearing a high-tier Delve with a life remaining, and a leveled Valeera companion with the right curios for your spec is essential, since curios can't be swapped inside
Invasions Don't Count — Random Delve invasions do not progress the seasonal achievements or the mount, so only the dedicated Nemesis encounter qualifies
Season-Locked — The mount, titles, and cosmetic are Season 2 exclusive and become unobtainable when the season ends, making this a limited window
