The Tidebound Grotto Boost

The Tidebound Grotto is the first Lair introduced with Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula'tek — a submerged, naga-themed cave beneath the Coiled Isle guarded by the sorceress Nymrissa Wavecaller. Lairs are a brand-new evolution of world bosses: one-boss, raid-style encounters run inside their own instance through a summoning stone, so there's no open-world tagging chaos or forty-player lag.

• A New Kind of Boss — Lairs replace open-world bosses; you enter through a summoning stone outside the instance, similar to a Delve queue, and select your difficulty on the spot

• Four Difficulties — World, Normal, Heroic, and flexible Mythic (15–25 players), with loot climbing from around item level 279 on World to 292 Normal, 305 Heroic, and 318 Mythic

• Great Vault Raid Row — A kill on any eligible difficulty counts toward the Raid row of your weekly Great Vault, so the Lair supports raid gearing alongside The Venomous Abyss

• The Fight — Nymrissa is built around controlling Bubblefin murloc adds, managing icy ground effects, and positioning her water attacks correctly; a single boss with no second phase, but mechanically punishing on higher difficulties

• Notable Trinket — The Wavecaller's Seastone trinket is the encounter's headline drop, though its value depends on your spec and final tuning, so it isn't automatically best-in-slot for everyone

• One Slice of the Season — As a single-boss Lair, it's best treated as part of a wider Season 2 gearing plan alongside the raid, Mythic+, and Delves rather than a full gearing source on its own

• Normal: 292 ilvl Champion gear

• Heroic: 305 ilvl Hero gear

• Mythic: 318 ilvl Myth gear
