Aion 2 Global has more instanced content than most players expect, and not all of it is equally important. Some dungeons are the backbone of your gear progression, some exist mainly to farm a specific resource, and some are seasonal ranking ladders you can safely ignore until much later.
In this guide, the Mythic Store team explains every dungeon type in the Global version: how each one works, how often you can run it, what it rewards and where it fits in your weekly routine. If you are new to the game, this is the fastest way to understand where your time and Odyle Energy should go.
Aion 2 Dungeon Types at a Glance
Dungeon type | Players | Unlocks | Run limit | Main reason to run it |
|---|
Expeditions | 1–5 (some 2–5) | Level 20 (story) | Odyle Energy; Conquest reward count is weekly | Gear, Enhancement Stones, Kina |
Transcendence | 2–5 | Level 45 | Odyle Energy; shares the weekly reward count with Conquest | Arcana, high-end materials |
Daily Dungeons | Solo | Level 30 | 14 shared entries per week | Enhancement Stones, pet chests or Kina |
Nightmare | Solo | Level 45 | 2 attempts per day, banked up to a cap | Phantasmal Fragments for the Nightmare shop |
Ascension Trial | Solo | Level 45 | 3 entries per week | Enhance Stones, Amplify Stone Fragments, binding chests |
Sealed Dungeons | Solo | While leveling | One-time clears | Daevanion points and leveling rewards |
How Odyle Energy and Resets Work
Two systems control how much dungeon content you can do, and it pays to understand both before you start farming.
Odyle Energy
Odyle Energy is spent to open the reward cube at the end of an Expedition or Transcendence run, not to enter the dungeon itself. That means you can clear a dungeon without spending anything, but you only get its main loot when you open the cube.
Energy regenerates over time up to a cap, and a Membership raises that cap. Each character has its own pool, which is why some players farm cubes on alts as well. Because Expeditions and Transcendence both draw from the same pool, deciding where to spend it is one of the most important choices in your weekly routine.
Weekly Reset
The weekly reset happens on Wednesday. It refills weekly counters such as Daily Dungeon entries, Ascension Trial entries and raid attempts. Weekly counters do not carry over, so anything you leave unused is lost.
Nightmare attempts work differently. They recharge daily and bank up to a cap, so missing a day or two does not cost you anything.
Expeditions
Expeditions are Aion 2's classic party dungeons and the main source of gear for most of your progression. A standard group is five players: a tank, a healer, two damage dealers and one flexible slot. Several Expeditions can also be entered with smaller groups.
Every Expedition has the same basic structure: two mini-bosses and a final boss. The run ends when the final boss dies and an Odyle Energy Cube appears in the arena.
Expeditions in the Global Version
Expedition | Exploration unlocks at | Notes |
|---|
Krao Cave | Level 20 | First Expedition, good for learning stagger and boss mechanics |
Urugugu Canyon | Level 28 | Two bosses with one-shot mechanics, minimum 2 players |
Fire Temple | Level 35 | Higher-tier reward pool |
Draupnir | Level 45 | Endgame entry Expedition |
Vakron Sky Island | Level 45 | Popular Conquest farm once your Gear Score allows it, minimum 2 players |
Ferocious Horn Den | Level 45 | Highest Gear Score requirement of the current set |
Each Expedition also has a Gear Score requirement, shown in the Expedition menu, which rises sharply on the harder difficulty. More Expeditions exist in the Korean version and are expected to arrive on Global over time.
Exploration vs Conquest
Every Expedition comes in two difficulties:
Exploration: the easier version. It unlocks through the story while you level, has low Gear Score requirements and simpler boss mechanics.
Conquest: the harder version for level 45 characters. It needs much more Gear Score, adds extra boss mechanics and has a better reward pool.
At endgame, Conquest is where the real progression happens. Exploration is mainly for leveling and for learning each dungeon before you take it seriously.
Expedition Rewards
All of your personal loot comes from the Odyle Energy Cube after the final boss. The cube can contain equipment, Enhancement Stones, Kina and other progression materials, and you can preview its contents before entering.
The most important rule: every boss you kill adds its loot to the cube. Rushing past the two mini-bosses gets you a weaker cube, so full clears are almost always worth the extra minutes.
On top of the cube, Expeditions have two more reward systems:
Guaranteed rewards (pity system): every cube you open adds progress toward a guaranteed reward. Once the counter fills, you choose an item from a list instead of relying on random drops. This is the most reliable way to finish a specific gear slot.
Weekly cumulative rewards: repeated runs during the same week fill a separate reward track. Very high weekly run counts reduce the Kina portion of cube rewards, but not the other drops.
Conquest also has a weekly reward count shared with Transcendence. Clearing a dungeon and leaving without opening the cube still uses up one of those counts, so do not waste them on runs you do not intend to loot.
Transcendence

Transcendence is the step above Conquest Expeditions and the heart of Aion 2's endgame. These are level 45 party dungeons for two to five players, built around four progressively harder stages instead of the Exploration and Conquest split.
The Global version currently has two Transcendence dungeons: Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis. More are expected to follow, as the Korean version already has additional ones.

Shop NowHow Transcendence Works
Each dungeon has two mini-bosses and a final boss, like an Expedition. The difference is that the final boss stays locked until your group earns enough progress points. Mini-bosses give most of those points, and the rest comes from regular enemies, so you cannot skip every pull between bosses.
The four stages work like difficulty levels:
Each stage raises the Gear Score requirement and the level of the enemies.
From Stage 2 onward, stage effects are added. These modifiers make enemies hit harder, punish standing in the wrong place or make bosses harder to stagger.
Effects stack. By Stage 4 you are dealing with every modifier from the earlier stages at once.
Transcendence Rewards
Transcendence also ends with an Odyle Energy Cube, but its reward focus is different. Expeditions are about equipment. Transcendence is one of the main sources of Arcana, the card system that raises your skill levels beyond what skill points and Daevanion boards allow. Arcana is how most classes reach the level 16 skill breakpoints that define their builds.
The cube can also contain Amplify Stone Fragments, Enhancement Stones, Kina and other materials. Higher stages improve the quality of the rewards, so pushing stages is worth it once your group can clear them reliably.
Transcendence Rankings
Transcendence has a seasonal ranking ladder judged within each class. Rank points depend on the stage, clear speed, kills and deaths. At the end of the season, your class rank decides your season grade: rewarded tiers earn a season title, and the top tiers also receive a cosmetic helm skin. The skins are cosmetic only and give no combat stats.
Daily Dungeons
Daily Dungeons are short solo instances that unlock at level 30. Despite the name, they are limited weekly: you get 14 entries per week, shared across all three Daily Dungeons, and the counter refills on Wednesday. Every entry counts as an attempt, so you can run them back to back or spread them out, two a day being the natural rhythm.
Each Daily Dungeon is a score attack. You have a time limit, and your final score decides the size of your reward. The three dungeons focus on different resources:
Daily Dungeon | Objective | Main reward |
|---|
Daeva Bio-Research Base | Defeat waves of test subjects before they transform | Enhancement Stones |
Odylium Repository | Collect Odyle Energy from unstable Odylium | Growth Pet Chests |
Crobakhi's Secret Depository | Collect coins throughout the instance | Bound Kina |
Before each run you pick one of three random effects, such as more Attack, more Combat Speed or extra recovery. Damage and speed effects usually help your score the most.
Because all three share one entry pool, choose based on what you need right now. Enhancement Stones are the most common bottleneck when pushing Gear Score, which makes Daeva Bio-Research Base the default pick for most players. Your score, and therefore your reward, grows as your character gets stronger.
Nightmare
Nightmare is a solo boss-challenge mode for level 45 characters. Instead of a full dungeon, you pick a single boss, choose a Challenge Level from 1 to 10 and fight it directly. Higher levels raise the suggested Item Level and the rewards.
Nightmare does not use Odyle Energy. It has its own system:
Attempts: you gain two attempts per day, and unused attempts bank up to a cap. Each clear uses one attempt.
Phantasmal Fragments: Nightmare's own currency. Each boss level pays a larger reward on the first clear and a smaller reward on repeat clears.
Nightmare Trade Shop: fragments are spent on progression materials such as Stigma Shards and Daevanion Crystals, plus wings, cosmetic armor skins and Pantheon statues.
The bosses are organized as a ladder. Several are available from the start, others unlock as you progress, and the final boss of the current layer is Zikel's Apparition. You do not have to clear every Challenge Level in order: if your character is strong enough, you can jump straight to a higher one.
Once you have cleared a level, Instant Clear Tickets let you claim its rewards again without refighting the boss. That is excellent for fragment farming, but instant clears from the lobby do not give rank points.
Nightmare also has a seasonal class-based ranking. Your rank depends first on the highest boss you have cleared, then on rank points as a tiebreaker. Top tiers receive season titles and cosmetic helm skins.
Ascension Trial

Ascension Trial is a solo, score-based dungeon for level 45 characters. Unlike Nightmare, it is a full short dungeon: you clear several rooms of enemies and finish with a boss, all within a time limit and a death limit.
Key rules to know:
Three entries per week. These are your most limited dungeon attempts in the game.
The entry is used when you go in, not when you win. A failed run still costs you an attempt.
Several difficulties. Each one raises the Item Level requirement, tightens the time and death limits and can add a dungeon-wide debuff. Higher difficulties also multiply your score.
Rotating dungeons. The available trial dungeon can change from week to week.
Rewards scale with your final score and include Enhance Stones, Growth Pet Chests, Amplify Stone Fragments and Ascension Binding Chests. Because your attempts are so limited, pick the highest difficulty you can clear comfortably rather than the highest one you barely qualify for. Ascension Trial also has a seasonal ranking based on your best score, with titles as rewards.
Sealed Dungeons
Sealed Dungeons (officially Seal Dungeons) are small solo instances scattered across the open world and marked on the map. They are leveling content, not endgame: each one is a quick clear that rewards Daevanion points, Kina and other early progression materials.
They have no difficulty tiers and no weekly limit. Clearing them as you level is one of the best ways to keep your Daevanion boards ahead of your character level, which feeds directly into your skill breakpoints later.
Which Dungeons Should You Run First?
The right order depends on where your character is:
While leveling: clear Sealed Dungeons as you find them and run Exploration Expeditions as the story unlocks them. Focus on learning the bosses, not on perfect loot.
At level 45: start your Daily Dungeon, Nightmare and Ascension Trial routine, and move into Conquest Expeditions as soon as your Gear Score meets the requirement.
Mid Gear Score: use the guaranteed reward system in Conquest to fill specific gear slots, and keep spending Daily Dungeon entries on Enhancement Stones.
Endgame: shift your Odyle Energy toward Transcendence for Arcana, and push higher stages as your group improves.

Shop NowA Simple Weekly Routine
Every day: use both Nightmare attempts (or let them bank), run two Daily Dungeon entries and spend your Odyle Energy on cubes before it caps.
Before Wednesday's reset: finish all 14 Daily Dungeon entries and all three Ascension Trial entries, since weekly counters do not carry over.
Throughout the week: track your shared Conquest and Transcendence reward count, and only skip a cube when you are deliberately helping someone else.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Exploration and Conquest?
Exploration is the easier version of an Expedition, with low requirements and simpler mechanics, unlocked through the story. Conquest is the level 45 endgame version with much higher Gear Score requirements, extra mechanics and better rewards.
Does entering a dungeon cost Odyle Energy?
No. For Expeditions and Transcendence, Odyle Energy is spent when you open the reward cube after the final boss. The real decision is which runs are worth looting.
Why should I kill the mini-bosses?
Each boss you defeat adds its loot to the final cube. Skipping mini-bosses means a weaker cube for the same Odyle Energy cost.
How many times can I run each dungeon?
Expeditions and Transcendence are limited by Odyle Energy and a shared weekly Conquest and Transcendence reward count. Daily Dungeons give 14 shared entries per week, Nightmare recharges two attempts per day and Ascension Trial gives three entries per week.
Where do I get Arcana?
Transcendence is one of the main sources of Arcana. That makes it essential for reaching the high skill levels that unlock your class's strongest Specialties.
What is the difference between Nightmare and Ascension Trial?
Nightmare is a solo boss ladder with ten Challenge Levels per boss, daily-recharging attempts and its own currency. Ascension Trial is a short solo dungeon with rooms of enemies, a final boss, score-based rewards and only three entries per week.
