In Diablo 4 Season 15, you can get Mythic Uniques in five ways: the new Horadric Cube recipe that turns a specific item into its Mythic version, Jeweler Rune Crafting, the Blacksmith Mythic Cache, direct drops from Lair Bosses and Kurast Undercity Mythic Tributes, and Season Rank rewards. The biggest change is the Cube recipe. For the first time, you choose exactly which item becomes Mythic, and it keeps all of its affixes, Tempering and Masterworking.
The best approach is to use the Cube for the single most important item in your build, fill the remaining slots through the Jeweler, the Blacksmith and drops, and keep one rule in mind: you can wear only one item created with the direct Cube recipe. In this guide, the Mythic Store team explains every method, what it costs, and how to decide which item deserves your one guaranteed upgrade.
The Season 15 details below come from the 3.2.0 PTR and may change with the live patch.
What Mythic Uniques Are in Season 15
Since Season 14, Mythic is no longer a rarity reserved for a handful of chase items. It is an item quality that any Unique can reach. A Mythic Unique has several advantages over its regular version:
It is always Ancestral.
Its Unique Power is roughly 30% stronger.
Its other affixes roll at their maximum values.
There are two kinds of Mythic items. Regular Mythic Uniques are upgraded versions of normal Uniques, while Iconic Mythics are the original build-defining Mythics from earlier seasons. In Season 15, every Iconic Mythic also becomes available as a regular Unique, which opens up a new way to target them, as explained below.
What Changes for Mythic Uniques in Season 15
Area | Season 14 | Season 15 |
|---|---|---|
Horadric Cube upgrade | Random Mythic from the same slot category, paid with a seasonal material | The exact item you insert becomes Mythic, with all modifications kept |
Equip limit | Removed during Season 14 for all crafted Mythics | Only one item from the direct Cube recipe can be equipped, other Mythics have no limit |
Blacksmith Mythic Cache | Random Iconic Mythic | Random Mythic Unique or Iconic Mythic valid for your class |
Iconic Mythics | Available only as Mythics | Also available as regular Uniques that drop earlier |
Charms | No Mythic quality | Unique Charms can drop as Mythic Charms |
These are permanent system changes, not seasonal mechanics. They apply to both Seasonal and Eternal characters.

1. Horadric Cube: Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic
This is the headline change of Season 15. You insert a Unique into the Horadric Cube, and it becomes the Mythic version of that exact item. Everything you have invested in it carries over: affixes, Tempering, Masterworking and other modifications.
Blizzard confirmed three rules for this recipe:
It costs more than the Jeweler and Blacksmith recipes. The exact cost will be confirmed with the live patch.
It does not work on Unmodifiable items. Transfiguring an item can make it Unmodifiable, so do not Transfigure a Unique you plan to upgrade.
The result has a Crafted tag. You can equip only one Crafted item at a time.
This means the most efficient way to use the recipe is to perfect a Unique first and upgrade it last. Temper it, Masterwork it and make sure its affixes are what your build needs, then turn it into a Mythic so all of that work is preserved.
The Horadric Cube is part of the Lord of Hatred expansion and unlocks after you complete its campaign. In Season 14, Mythic crafting became available once you reached level 70 and Torment difficulty.
2. Jeweler: Rune Crafting
At the Jeweler, you combine Resplendent Sparks and Runes, choose an equipment slot such as a ring or a one-handed weapon, and receive a random Mythic Unique for that slot that your class can use. In Season 14, this recipe cost 3 Resplendent Sparks and 18 Runes.
Jeweler Mythics do not get the Crafted tag, so you can wear several of them alongside your Cube Mythic. The slot choice gives you some control, but the item itself is random, which makes the Jeweler best for slots with few class-specific Mythics or for filling gaps in your gear. Runes are usually the bottleneck for this recipe.
3. Blacksmith: Mythic Cache
The Blacksmith's Mythic Cache now returns either a Mythic Unique or an Iconic Mythic valid for your class. In Season 14, it cost 2 Resplendent Sparks and 50 million Gold and only returned Iconic Mythics.
Blizzard's developer note explains the purpose of this recipe: it gives you a way to spend excess Resplendent Sparks without needing Runes once you already have your Cube Mythic. Mythics from the Blacksmith do not receive the Crafted tag.
4. Direct Drops: Lair Bosses and Undercity Mythic Tributes
Any Unique can drop directly as a Mythic, and two activities stood out as the best sources in Season 14.
Lair Bosses. Every Lair Boss can drop Mythic Uniques, and higher Torment tiers improve your chances. Greater Lair Bosses and Belial offered roughly double the Mythic drop chance of other Lair Bosses last season, which makes them the best targets for your rarer keys. Regular Lair Bosses are still worth running when their loot table contains a specific Unique your build needs.
Kurast Undercity with a Mythic Tribute of Armaments. Using a Mythic Tribute in the Undercity adds Mythic items to the reward pool. After a July server hotfix, the Tribute guaranteed at least one Mythic at Torment 12 and had a greatly increased chance at Torment 10. Mythic Tributes come from Tree of Whispers caches, World Bosses and Lair Boss hoards, and you can also create one in the Horadric Cube from five Legendary Greater Tributes of Armaments.
Save your Mythic Tributes for the highest Torment tier you can clear reliably within the time limit. Spending one on a lower difficulty wastes most of its value.
5. Season Rank Rewards
In Season 14, the Season Rank system included Mythic reward caches among its rank rewards. Progressing through the ranks is one of the easiest ways to get your first Mythics without any crafting materials. Check the Season 15 Season Rank rewards at launch and claim them as soon as you unlock them.
The Iconic Mythic Shortcut

One detail of the Season 15 changes deserves special attention. Iconic Mythics, the famous build-defining items from earlier seasons, now also exist as regular Uniques. At the same time, the direct Cube recipe turns any eligible Unique into its Mythic version.
On paper, that combination creates a targeted path to a specific Iconic Mythic for the first time: find its regular Unique version, perfect its affixes, and upgrade it in the Cube. Previously, Iconic Mythics could only be obtained as random drops or from random Blacksmith caches.
Confirm on launch day that the Unique versions of Iconic Mythics are eligible for the direct upgrade. If they are, this will be the most reliable way to complete builds that depend on a specific Iconic item.
Which Item Should Get Your Crafted Tag
Because you can wear only one Crafted item, choosing the right target is the most important Mythic decision of the season. Ask these four questions:
Does my build depend on this item's Unique Power? The 30% stronger Unique Power matters most on the item your build is designed around.
Is this item hard to get as a random Mythic? Spend the Crafted tag on items you are unlikely to find as Mythic drops, not on common ones.
Do its affixes and Tempers matter a lot? The direct upgrade preserves your investment, so it gives the most value to items where perfect affixes make a large difference.
Will I keep this item for the rest of the season? Do not use the Crafted tag on a transitional item you will replace in a week.
In practice, the answer is usually your build's core Unique, the one the build guide calls mandatory. Every other slot can be filled through the Jeweler, the Blacksmith and drops, since those Mythics have no equip limit.
Step-by-Step Mythic Plan for Season 15
Reach level 70 and unlock Torment. Mythic crafting and most Mythic drop sources require Torment difficulty.
Claim your Season Rank rewards. They can provide your first Mythic Uniques for free.
Collect your build's core Unique. Keep every copy you find with good affixes.
Perfect it before upgrading. Temper and Masterwork the best copy, and avoid Transfiguring it.
Upgrade it in the Horadric Cube. This becomes your one Crafted Mythic.
Fill other slots at the Jeweler. Pick the slots where a random class Mythic is most likely to help.
Spend spare Sparks at the Blacksmith. Use the Mythic Cache for extra chances at Iconic Mythics.
Farm Lair Bosses and Undercity Tributes. Push Torment tiers to improve your drop chances over time.
Tips for Eternal Realm Players
The Mythic changes apply to the Eternal Realm as well, which gives Eternal players a head start.
Do not salvage your best Uniques. A Unique with ideal affixes, Tempering and Masterworking is now a direct Mythic candidate.
Stop Transfiguring upgrade candidates. Unmodifiable items cannot use the direct Cube recipe.
Review your existing Mythics. If you already wear several Mythics, decide which slot would gain the most from a perfect Crafted Mythic before you use the recipe.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Upgrading an unfinished item. Temper and Masterwork first, because the upgrade preserves what you put in.
Spending the Crafted tag on a transitional item. You can equip only one, so save it for an item you will keep.
Transfiguring a future Mythic. It can block the direct upgrade permanently.
Using Mythic Tributes on low difficulties. Their Mythic chance scales strongly with Torment tier.
Waiting for a specific Iconic Mythic to drop. Check whether its Unique version can be upgraded directly instead.
Mythic Uniques FAQ
What is the best way to get a Mythic Unique in Season 15?
The most reliable way is the Horadric Cube's Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe, which turns the exact Unique you choose into its Mythic version with all modifications kept. For additional Mythics, use the Jeweler, the Blacksmith and Lair Boss or Undercity farming.
How many crafted Mythic Uniques can you equip in Season 15?
You can equip only one item created with the direct Horadric Cube recipe. Mythics from the Jeweler, the Blacksmith and drops have no Crafted tag, so you can wear as many of them as your build needs.
Does the Horadric Cube Mythic upgrade keep Tempering and Masterworking?
Yes. The direct upgrade is a full one-to-one transfer, so the item keeps its affixes, Tempering, Masterworking and other modifications.
Can you upgrade a Transfigured Unique to Mythic?
Not if Transfiguration made it Unmodifiable. The direct Cube recipe does not work on Unmodifiable items.
Can you craft Mythic Charms?
No. Mythic Charms can only drop from Unique Charms at a low chance, and there is no targeted farm for them.
Are the Mythic changes only for Season 15?
No. The new Mythic crafting rules and the Unique versions of Iconic Mythics are permanent changes that apply to both Seasonal and Eternal characters.
Where do Mythic Uniques drop in Diablo 4?
Mythic Uniques can drop from Lair Bosses, with Greater Lair Bosses and Belial offering the best odds, and from Kurast Undercity runs using a Mythic Tribute of Armaments. Higher Torment tiers improve your chances at every source.
