Delves are the most efficient solo progression in Season 2, and the Delver's Journey is what makes them worth running seriously rather than casually.
Rank 4 alone unlocks Myth Mistcrests from solo content — a source most players don't realise exists outside raids and high keys. Rank 9 opens Hero gear purchases. Rank 10 gives a title and permanently increases your Coffer Key Shard income.
This guide covers the full point breakdown across every tier, the fastest realistic route to Rank 10, Valeera's loadout, and everything the Journey unlocks along the way.
Why the Delver's Journey Matters
Most players treat the Journey as a slow background track. It isn't — several ranks change what Delves actually give you:
Rank | What Changes |
|---|
4 | Gilded Stashes appear after Tier 11 Delves — Hero and Myth Mistcrests |
5 | Zah'ran appears at Tier 6+ with Champion gear; extra boons from Curiosities |
6 | Buy 2 Restored Coffer Keys weekly from Naleidea Rivergleam |
7 | Delve-O-Bot teleport upgrade for Midnight Delves |
8 | Champion Warbound gear from Tier 9+ Delves |
9 | Tier 11 Coffers can drop Hero gear or Untainted Mana-Crystals; Zah'ran sells Hero gear |
10 | Snake Eater title and increased Coffer Key Shard income from all sources |
Rank 4 is your first real priority. Myth Mistcrests from a solo Tier 11 Delve is one of the few ways to earn top-track upgrade currency without a group.
Rank 9 is the second. Untainted Mana-Crystals buy Hero gear from Zah'ran, turning Delves into a genuine gearing path rather than a currency faucet.
Complete Delver's Journey Point Values

Every Delve run gives points from up to four sources. Here's the full breakdown across all tiers.

Total Per Full Run
Combining completion, coffer, and strongbox:
Tier | Total Points |
|---|
4 | 175 |
5 | 250 |
6 | 310 |
7 | 370 |
8 | 430 |
9 | 490 |
10 | 550 |
11 | 675 |
The gap between Tier 8 and Tier 11 is enormous — 675 versus 430 per run, a 57% increase. If you can clear Tier 11, there is no reason to farm anything lower.
Weekly quest: turning in A Gnawing Void of Curiosity after looting a Primeval Arcane Remnant gives a flat 1,500 points. Do this every reset without exception — it's worth more than two full Tier 11 runs.
The Nemesis Strongbox Detail Worth Knowing
The Nemesis Strongbox affix applies to Delves Tier 4 and above, adding groups of Nullaeus' allies. Defeating them upgrades the Strongbox in the treasure room.
The Strongbox is available in any Delve as long as you kill at least one minion group. It isn't gated behind a weekly lockout or a special Delve type. That means the strongbox points are repeatable indefinitely — you can grind Delves all day and every single run contributes.
Hover the affix icon in your objectives to see how many groups you need for maximum rewards.
The Fastest Route to Rank 10

Reaching Rank 10 takes roughly 44,000 points in total. Here's how that breaks down in practice.
Your Weekly Ceiling Per Character
The realistic maximum on a single character is around 14,800 points per week:
4 Tier 11 Bountiful Delves per day for 7 days — 10,500 points
6 Bountiful Coffers plus 2 more from purchased Restored Coffer Keys — 2,400 points
Hidden Trove chest — 400 points
Weekly quest turn-in — 1,500 points
On one character, Rank 10 takes about three weeks.
The Multi-Character Route
Delver's Journey is Warband-bound. Progress from every character on your account feeds the same track, and this is the single biggest accelerator available.
A four-character rotation reaches Rank 10 in two weeks:
Week 1 — roughly 16,900 points (Rank 4)
Weekly quest turn-in: 1,500
4 characters × Hidden Chest: 1,600
4 characters × 4 Tier 11 Bountifuls with Coffers opened: 10,800
4 characters × 2 Tier 11 Bountifuls without Coffers: 3,000
Save two keys per character — Rank 4 caps what you can bank early.
Week 2 — roughly 27,400 points (Rank 10)
Weekly quest turn-in: 1,500
4 characters × Hidden Chest: 1,600
4 characters × 9 Tier 11 Bountifuls with Coffers opened: 24,300
Using six keys plus the two saved from week one plus one vendor key per character.
If you only play one character, the timeline stretches to about three weeks. Still very achievable within a season, but the Warband route is dramatically faster if you have alts at all.

Shop NowThe Tier 11 Trick Most Players Miss
If Tier 11 feels out of reach on your gear, there's a setup that makes it accessible at almost any item level.
Go in as a healer and spec Valeera as your tank.
Valeera receives a stacking buff from any healing source, and when she's tanking, that buff scales her into something considerably tougher than your gear suggests. A Restoration Shaman at 224 item level can clear Tier 11 Delves in roughly 15 minutes per run.
Why this works: you're not gear-checking the content, you're outsourcing survivability entirely. Your throughput requirement drops to keeping one target alive, and Valeera handles the rest.
If you have a healing offspec and Tier 11 is currently gating your Delver's Journey progress, this is the shortest path to unblocking it.
Valeera's Loadout

Her role is personal preference, but she needs both a Curio and a Poison equipped to be complete.
Curios
Three are available immediately at season start:
Corrosive Bilespear
Essence Trap
Ouroboric Curse
Three more unlock after completing the seasonal intro questline beginning with Seasonal Refresher: Midnight:
Dundun's Favor deserves special mention. It lets you loot Mislaid Curiosities by walking over them rather than stopping to cast, and permits looting in combat. If you're farming Valeera experience or grinding Journey points, this is the curio that changes your movement pattern from stop-start to continuous.
Poisons
Role Guidance
Tank and DPS specs: run Healer Valeera
Healer specs: run DPS Valeera
Undergeared and pushing Tier 11: run Tank Valeera and heal her
Boons and Affixes
Boons from Mislaid Curiosities
Once you hit Rank 1, Mislaid Curiosities grant stat boons. They're marked on your map — grab every one you pass.
Boon | Effect |
|---|
Boon of Vigor | +6% max health, +10% movement speed |
Boon of Possibilities | +6% to a random secondary stat |
Boon of Fortitude | +4% damage reduction |
Boon of Speed | +10% movement speed |
Boon of Vitality | +6% max health |
Boon of Potency | +4% to your highest secondary |
Boon of Temperance | +8% to your lowest secondary |
Boon of Power | +4% primary stat |
Boon of Temperance is quietly the strongest for most specs — 8% on your lowest secondary is a larger raw number than 4% on your highest in the majority of stat distributions.
Strange Disturbances
Rare vignettes marked on your map. Killing one grants a passive ability for the run:
Rare | Passive Effect |
|---|
Wailing Spirit | Occasionally fears enemies |
Clever Saptor | Chance to summon a Saptor ally in combat |
Abandoned Sentinel | Knock enemies airborne with increased crit chance |
Paingolin | Increased movement speed until entering combat |
Paingolin is the pick for Journey farming. Movement speed between packs compounds across dozens of runs.

Tier 8 is the Great Vault cap. Running Tier 9, 10, or 11 does not improve your Vault reward or your direct Bountiful loot.
So why run Tier 11? Two reasons, and both are currency:
Gilded Stashes appear after Tier 11 Delves once you hit Journey Rank 4 — these are your Myth Mistcrest source.
Delver's Journey points scale hard with tier — 675 per run at Tier 11 versus 430 at Tier 8.
The practical split: if you only care about your Vault, Tier 8 is sufficient and faster. If you want Myth Mistcrests and Journey progression, Tier 11 is the only tier that matters.
Mistcrest Sources by Tier
Crest Type | Where It Comes From |
|---|
Adventurer Mistcrest | Tier 4 Treasure Room chests |
Veteran Mistcrest | Tier 5–6 Treasure Rooms; Trovehunter's Bounty Tier 4–5 |
Champion Mistcrest | Tier 7–10 Treasure Rooms; Trovehunter's Bounty Tier 6–7 |
Hero Mistcrest | Tier 11 Treasure Rooms; Trovehunter's Bounty Tier 8+; Tier 11 Gilded Stashes |
Myth Mistcrest | Tier 11 Gilded Stashes only |
Myth Mistcrests from Delves require Journey Rank 4 and Tier 11 clears. There's no other solo route to them.

A small one that catches people out: to receive the letter starting A Grave Concern and unlock the gravestone system with Nelthius Shadestone, you must die in a Delve first.
You can die after completing the Delve and still get the letter. If you're a careful player who hasn't died all season, this is why the quest never appeared for you.
Additional gravestone types unlock through Journey ranks, and Rank 6 opens new options in the Delver's Headquarters basement.
Weekly Routine
Every reset
Loot a Primeval Arcane Remnant and turn in A Gnawing Void of Curiosity — 1,500 points, the single best return of the week
Buy 2 Restored Coffer Keys from Naleidea Rivergleam once you hit Rank 6
Run 4 Tier 11 Bountiful Delves per day per character
Open every Bountiful Coffer you have keys for — 300 points each at Tier 11
Clear the Hidden Trove — 400 points at Tier 11
Kill at least one Nullaeus minion group per Delve for Strongbox credit
If you have alts: rotate them. The Journey is Warband-bound and four characters halves your timeline.
Before season end: secure the Nemesis rewards. Achievements convert to Feats of Strength when Season 3 opens, and the associated rewards stop being obtainable.
Common Mistakes
Farming Tier 8 for Journey points. Tier 11 gives 675 per full run against Tier 8's 430. If you can clear 11, farm 11.
Skipping the weekly quest. 1,500 points for one turn-in is worth more than two full Tier 11 runs.
Not opening Coffers. The Coffer alone is 300 points at Tier 11 — nearly half your run value. Unopened keys are wasted progress.
Running Tier 11 for Vault rewards. Your Vault caps at Tier 8. Run 11 for crests and Journey points, not Vault item level.
Ignoring the Warband bonus. Journey progress is account-wide. Alts aren't optional if you want Rank 10 quickly.
Assuming Tier 11 needs high gear. Heal and let Valeera tank. Item level stops being the barrier.
