Patch 12.1 goes live August 11. Season 2 starts August 18. You have one day.
When the patch drops, Season 1 officially ends. Upgrade tracks on your current gear lock in permanently. A list of currencies wipes to zero. Seasonal mounts and titles go away. And the Coiled Isle — the new zone in Patch 12.1 — won't open until you complete a prerequisite questline that's been available for weeks.
This is the complete checklist. Not the short version.
⚠️ What Happens When Patch 12.1 Drops
Before the checklist, here's the sequence of events so nothing catches you off-guard:
August 11 — Patch 12.1 goes live: Season 1 ends. All Season 1 gear upgrade tracks lock at their current item level. The Coiled Isle unlocks for players who completed Chapter 1 of the Curse of Ula'tek campaign.
August 18 — Season 2 starts: New M+ dungeon pool, new affix rotation, new raid. The gear grind resets. New crest types begin dropping.
One week separates the patch from the season. That's your window to finish last-minute Season 1 content before new content pulls your attention away.
✅ THE FULL CHECKLIST

1. Spend or Upgrade — Currencies That Reset to Zero
This is the one most players miss. Currencies in your Season 1 currency tab wipe completely when the patch drops. Anything you haven't spent is gone.
Currencies confirmed to reset:
Currency | What to Spend It On Before Reset |
|---|
Myth / Hero / Champion / Veteran / Adventurer Dawncrests | Upgrade all gear to its maximum track before Tuesday. A Hero 4/6 piece with crests in your bag should be 6/6 before the patch. |
Restored Coffer Keys | Open cached gear on any alts that need items. |
Coffer Key Shards | Combine into full Restored Coffer Keys and use them. |
Undercoin | Clear the Delve vendor — cosmetics, housing items, anything you've been putting off. |
Untainted Mana-Crystals | Spend on catch-up gear for alts. |
Nebulous Voidcores | Use bonus rolls on any boss where loot is still useful. |
Dawnlight Manaflux | Redeem for Catalyst charges or other conversions available before the patch. |
Radiant Spark Dust | Spend at profession reagent vendors. |
Bloody Tokens | Clear the PvP vendor for any remaining cosmetics or gear. |
Conquest | Spend before Tuesday. Unlike other currencies, Honor does NOT reset between seasons of the same expansion — but Conquest does. |
The fastest way to check what you're sitting on: open your Currency tab, filter to the Season 1 sub-tab, and work through everything above. If it's in that tab, assume it resets.
2. Currencies That Are Safe — Don't Panic Spend
Not everything resets. Currencies outside the Season 1 tab carry forward into Season 2.
Confirmed to stay:
If it's not in your Season 1 sub-tab, you're fine.
3. Upgrade Your Gear Today — Upgrade Tracks Lock Tomorrow
When Season 1 ends, all upgrade tracks on Season 1 gear lock at their current item level. A piece at Hero 4/6 stays Hero 4/6 forever if you don't upgrade it before the patch.
Priority order for upgrades:
Any piece at 4/6 or 5/6 on Hero track — finish it now. The crest cost is worth it; the item level carries into early Season 2 content.
Myth-track pieces — if you have crests and are sitting below 6/6, finish them. Myth-track gear remains competitive for the first week or two of Season 2.
Alt gear — if you have alts you want ready for Season 2 week one, upgrade their highest priority slots today.
If you're short on Myth Dawncrests and need to farm before tomorrow, run Tier 5 Ritual Sites in Zul'Aman now — the fastest solo method available this late in the season.
4. Complete the Curse of Ula'tek Chapter 1 — Unlock the Coiled Isle
The Coiled Isle requires completing The Legacy of the Amani step of the Curse of Ula'tek campaign before Patch 12.1. This is Chapter 1 of the new campaign and it's already available.
How to start:
Find Hagar's Invitation in the centre of Silvermoon City
Coordinates: /way #2393 45.45 70.26
Complete the quest chain to unlock Chapter 2, which opens the Coiled Isle with the patch
For alts: you can skip the first chapter on alts by speaking to Sidormi in the inn in Silvermoon City — she's on a sofa on the left as you walk in. You need to have completed the chapter on at least one character first.
If you haven't started this at all, do it today. It's a mandatory gate and there's no way around it on your main.
5. Complete the Omnium Folio — Expansion-Wide Power
The Omnium Folio lasts all of Midnight expansion, not just Season 1. Every trait you unlock now carries forward through Season 2 and beyond.
The five-week quest chain:
Week 1: Retrieve the Omnium Folio from Grand Magister Rommath. Start: The Magisters' Call from a floating Magister's Missive near Ritual Site vendors in Silvermoon City.
Week 2: Collect 8 Ritualized Arcana from Elites inside Ritual Sites (two site runs covers this).
Week 3: Collect 5 Dark-Ley Coalescence by completing Void Assaults (one per assault or incursion).
Week 4: Collect 1 Primessence of Magic by defeating any final dungeon, delve boss, or LFR wing boss.
Week 5: Defeat Imperator Pertinax on Val or Nexus-Captain Leth'ir on Naigtal, then complete 3 World Quests on either planet.
If you haven't started: you can complete Week 1 immediately. Weeks 2–5 require one week each — so you can still start this week and have it done by early Season 2. Don't skip it because it feels late; the traits are expansion-wide and worth finishing even into Season 2.
6. Farm Season 1 Exclusive Mounts Before They're Gone

Several mounts and cosmetics are available only while Season 1 content is current. Once Season 2 starts and the dungeon pool rotates, these disappear from the drop table — potentially for the rest of the expansion.
Mounts confirmed available only from Season 1 content:
If these are on your list, today and the first week of the patch are your last realistic window. The Season 2 M+ rotation will replace these dungeons and the Mythic versions may not remain accessible at current difficulty.
7. Get Your Seasonal Achievements Before Tuesday
Season 1 Mythic+ achievements are gone the moment Season 2 begins. The mount and title rewards listed below are permanently exclusive to Season 1 — there is no future path to obtain them.
What disappears at Season 2 start (August 18):
Achievement | Reward | Rating Required |
|---|
Keystone Master | Calamitous Carrion mount | 2,000 |
Keystone Hero | Gleaming Sunmote (tier visual) | 2,500 |
Keystone Legend | Convalescent Carrion mount | 3,000 |
Keystone Myth | Timelost Saddle (mount choice) | 3,400 |
Umbral Champion | Exclusive seasonal title + mount | Top 1% at season end |
Umbral Champion in particular: this title is awarded at the end of Season 1 to the top 1% of Mythic+ rating at that moment. It is not earnable mid-season — it's a snapshot taken when the season closes. If you're near the top 1% cutoff, your final push is this week.
8. Complete Temple of Sethraliss Achievements
The Temple of Sethraliss achievements tied to current Season 1 content may not remain accessible in their current form after the dungeon pool rotates in Season 2. If there are specific Sethraliss achievements you're missing, check your achievement log and complete them this week.
